At the Tokyo Game Show 2011 Jun Senoue and Tomoya Ohtani played live music of Tropical Resort from Sonic Colors and Emerald Coast from Sonic Adventure, with a new footage of Sonic Generations you could hear remixes of Chemical Plant Zone, Seaside Hill and Rooftop Run. After that, they were joined by Jean Paul Makhlouf from Cash Cash, who performed played City Escape, It Doesn't Matter, Reach for the Stars and Endless Possibility. The concert lasted about 20 minutes and was broadcasted on SEGA's site about the show.

The recording of stream has already appeared on YouTube. Unfortunately, the video quality is far from perfect, but sound is ok, so the ones who missed broadcast won't be upset:

Update: better quality version of Sonic Generation tracks recording has appeared at YouTube Jun Senoue's channel. Click "Read more" to watch all videos.

About an half of hour ago SEGA have published in the blog the art of Shadow the Hedgehog from Sonic Generations. It's confirmed that he will be a rival (though we had already known that from demo version files). That's all what we have now, but most likely it'll be followed by something else, so just wait.

Today on their blog, SEGA has officially announced Sonic Generations Collector's Edition , which should make fans happy for sure. It includes:

  • Sonic Generations (PS3/XBOX 360 version).
  • DLC, which includes a mini-game ( " Casino Night" Pinball Stage ), a theme and costume for your avatar (for the Xbox 360 version only).
  • A figure of classic and modern Sonic.
  • Golden Ring (each with an individual number).
  • A artbook, “20 Years of Sonic Art” . It will include sketches and images for all 20 years of Sonic.
  • " 20 th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack" CD. The disc will contain the "best of" Sonic's music
  • " History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon" DVD. On the disc will be exclusive interviews, photos and other materials from a Sonic before he became one of the most important characters in the history of video games.

The Collector's Edition will only be available in Europe. The cost is currently unknown.

We've written not long ago that Sonic the Hedgehog CD is going to be ported on Xbox Live Arcade . As it turns out, the platform list is far longer. I'll just quote the text of announcement from the SEGA Blog :

Today we are happy to announce that Sonic CD will debut on mobile phones and consoles everywhere! Originally released for the SEGA CD system in 1993, and included the first appearance of fan favorite characters Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. Big news for fans everywhere, Sonic CD is coming to digital platforms with music from the original Japanese soundtrack . The beloved prequel to Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I is coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, iPhone and iPod touch, iPad, PC Digital Download, Android, and Windows Phone! Best of all, Sonic CD will be available for download in late 2011!

“Ask any Sonic fan to name their favorite games, and Sonic CD always ranks near the top of their lists,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. “Sonic CD marks an important chapter in Sonic’s history, bridging the gap between his oldest adventures and his new digital exploits like Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I. We’ve made sure the re-mastered edition has everything that Sonic fans want to see with all of the original colorful classic zones.”

Following the classic story of the original, Sonic CD sees Dr Eggman plan to cause chaos and take control of the future by stealing Time Stones from the Little Planet. Sonic must speed through levels and travel through time while fending off Eggman’s robots to recover the Time Stones, and save Amy Rose from his mechanical twin, Metal Sonic! This fast-paced game will return with brand new features including enhanced widescreen graphics, special iOS features, Xbox LIVE Achievements, PSN Trophies, PC Achievements and more.

The re-release of Sonic CD will be making its public debut at the Microsoft booth at PAX Prime in Seattle, August 26–28, 2011.

There are two interesting things here. Has Sonic CD became a prequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 4 ? The new trailer begins just as the trailers of Sonic 4. Second, about two years ago, Sonic Retro member The Taxman contacted SEGA and offered them to release ported version of Sonic CD to iPhone . His Retro Engine was used as an engine for it, which allowed to apapt graphics for device screen proportions and other features. There was no information about it since then. It's possible that the company accepted the offer, and it means the port was developed for about two years.

Sonic the Hedgehog CD , a game for Sega Mega CD (or just Sega CD in USA), will be ported to Xbox 360 and available in the Xbox Live Arcade service.

The first demostration of the port will be held at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle during 26th – 28th August 2011 at the one of Xbox 360 booths.

We already know quite a lot about the gameplay of Sonic Generations, and have seen a few levels both from console and portable versions. But the plot details are still unknown. However, some information about the beginning has appeared at allaboutgames.co.uk:

At the start of the game, everyone is attending a picnic in honour of Sonic’s 20th, when all of a sudden a mysterious dark force intrudes and sends everyone, including our spiky blue protagonist, back in time. Sonic is finding a way to get himself and everyone else back to the present time and along the way he bumps into many familiar faces including his younger (albeit chubbier) self! The two Sonics team up and work together to save their friends once again.

It sounds rather strange if you remember that in the latest games Sonic is 15 years old (Classic Sonic was 16).

As you may remember , SEGA promised its own, unique levels for 3DS version of Sonic Generations , except Green Hill Zone , though until this moment we 've not seen anything else (if not to count Big Arm and Special Stage ). Finally, screenshots of other level, Mushroom Hill Zone , has appeared. As usual, they demostrate the gameplay of both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic :

SEGA has also released screenshots of Seaside Hill and Rooftop Run from console version, click "Read More" to see them.
